Boca Raton’s Summer In The City Series At Mizner Amphitheater Returns With Free Movies And Concerts On Friday Nights

June 2nd, 2016

Get ready to listen to the summer sounds of downtown Boca Raton.

A free outdoor concert and movie series at Mizner Amphitheater returns Friday, June 10, so it will soon be time to savor your summer nights in style.

“Summer in the City: Music and Movies Under the Stars” will run most Friday nights through Aug. 19. That means you can head downtown and unwind with some Marley-style reggae, jam to some Zeppelin, or enjoy the classic sounds of Symphonia Boca Raton.

Mizner Amphitheater Manager Amy DiNorscio said her favorite part of the series is the relaxed atmosphere.

“For those of us who live in Boca year-round, the pace of the summer changes, and life in South Florida slows down a bit,” she said. “We provide these free summer events as a casual, fun place to meet friends, or to stroll by with your family after dinner in Mizner Park.”

Concert nights will kick off at 7:30 p.m., with a beer garden beginning at 6:30 p.m., where concertgoers can sample craft beers, meet the experts at Hollywood Brewing, learn how to make their own brews and play interactive games.

Plenty of tribute bands are included in the lineup, from a David Bowie group to acts performing music by Bob Marley and Led Zeppelin. FAU’s Summer Concert Band will also be putting on a special Sunday show for Father’s Day on June 19.

How about kicking back and catching a movie on the lawn instead? Film showings will start at 8 p.m. and include “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Minions.”

This year’s newest addition to the series will be Delivery Dudes. The delivery service will have a tent set up for those who want to place a food order from one of the participating downtown Boca restaurants and pick up their meals from the tent. There will also be food available for purchase on-site, but outside food and drinks are not allowed within the amphitheater otherwise.

Attendees can bring a blanket, or rent a chair for $5 at the venue.
