Boca Raton Resort & Club Goes On The Block

November 5th, 2014

The famed Boca Raton Resort & Club is up for sale for the second time in 10 years.

The historic Mizner resort, now owned by the buyout firm Blackstone Group and marketed as a Waldorf Astoria property, is being offered to potential buyers worldwide.

While club members have been buzzing about a possible sale for months, it became reality late last night when hundreds of members received an email from resort president Rick Hayduk:

Several members of the resort’s premier club said they expected an announcement in light of the sale of other properties in the Blackstone portfolio, including the Waldorf Astoria in New York City earlier this month and the Bahia Mar Hotel in Fort Lauderdale.

Blackstone bought the resort from former Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga in 2004 in a $1.25 billion-deal that also included Bahia Mar and Pier 66 in Lauderdale as well as two resorts in Naples.

While locals mainly know the resort for its beach club, many have visited as guests of large catered events like the upcoming fundraising gala of the Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic.
